Unfortunately, it is human nature to fear the unknown. There a far worse things in life than "worshiping" rocks and such"! In some cases, ignorance is NOT bliss.

I am a minister, though my own beliefs are Pagan in nature, my mind is not closed to other beliefs and systems of religion. And you will find two types of Christians. Those that are chest-beating bible-toters that would, present-day, burn witches at the stake again. These Christians, sorry souls that they are, are actually occult-ish in nature. To the point of only believing in what is taught in "their" groups. They should actually sit down and READ the bible. Christianity is one of the bloodiest religions there is...straight down to the lions den.

Now, the 2nd group of Christians, you don't usually hear from. They know God loves them and loves all, They know God is in all things: including rocks and such (!). They have no need to boost...which IS, actually one of THE sins. I have seen both groups, and have actually sat in on their meetings. One is shouting: "Jesus saves" , the other KNOWs he does.

I would have to say that the teacher is from the first group. Shame to close one's mind to the wonders offered from learning. All he had to do was ask "why", instead of saying no.

Thanks for sharing. I had not seen this article either but have seen many over the years that suspended teachers and students alike. Then came the harassment, but hopefully that won't happen or it will be stopped quickly. emoticon

A child's rights should often come before those of the adult. Fortunately, the school administration agreed. The teacher signed a contract to work for the school in which he agreed to not violate the religious beliefs of his students. Regardless of his own beliefs, he is still obligated to that contract and he violated the contract.

I believe in standing up for your convictions, but you have to abide by the contract you signed. Maybe he shouldn't have become a teacher.

I believe that people should be allowed to practice whatever religion that they want. Isn't that why we're suppossed to be the land of the free.

Thank you for the update. Didn't know about this at all. It's a shame things like this are still happening. Too many christians associate Wicca with the negative aspects of Satanism. A good open dialogue might help this situation. It's like that old saying"People hate what they fear and they fear what they do not understand".

Darlin.....I havent seen you around for ages!!! Well, I actually havent been around! I read the article. I was dissappointed as Iam a Christopagan. I believe in interspirituality and respect. I believe the teacher needed to follow the laws. If he doesnt like the laws then he should try and work at changing them work at a christian school or move states, do that or respect other religions especially if you dont know much about it. I admit I do not know much about Islam but I respect it and its followers even if I knew about Islam and it didnt agree with my way of life I would still respect it and its followers. Good to see you again! You left a goodie on my page way back a over a year ago I think!!! Cleva xxx emoticon
