Yes, it is so. I tried buffalo burgers and buffalo hot dogs for the first time this week-end. I have to say, (sorry, Sabbarett's) they were the best hot dogs I ever ate. The meat is rich in beefy flavor with out all the fat and calories. A 3.5 oz burger has about 130 cals. and less than 2 grms. of fat. It's a little pricey, ( I paid $7.99 a lb. at Whole Foods Market) however the payoff is worth it. ( I spent more than that on Twinkees back in the day) No one is supposed to eat red meat more than once a week anyway, so to me it's worth the extra cost to be healthier. Besides, if more people buy it and try it and like it, it may drive down the price. More ranchers might decide to raise the tasty critters.
