Inches are going down but weight is the same

I am disappointed. I was hoping to get out of the obese range this week, I only have about 2 lbs to be happily in the overweight BMI.
I started exercising and walk-jogging this week, so I was really hoping to see the scale move, but it didn't ;-(
The inches did go down and I will keep up the exercise because it is good for my health. I want to learn to jog.
Still, I am disappointed and a little impatient.

    Don't be disappointed having the inches go down- this means your actually burning body fat off. The tape measure is more reliable than the scales- keep up the great work. It also means your not lossing too much muscle mass...

    I'm in the same boat as you- only I've got ten pounds to go before I leave the dreaded obese zone. I keep reading that there is a turn around point at about six to eight weeks where your weight seems to adjust quickly to all of the exercise. Running/Jogging is great- I started doing it about a month ago and have really enjoyed it and love to see the progress I'm making- it takes my mind off the number on the scale and onto the mile markers on the road!
