Things have been a bit topsy turvey today. I got a call from the kidney specialist in Pittsburgh (nephrologist) this morning. She wants me to have a Retroperitoneal Echo Complete with Added Doppler Complete including a Renal Doppler to R/O Renal Arterial Stenosis. That said it is actually a ultrasound or scan of the kidney and the veins around it. That is scheduled for next Thursday. I had to change my eye doctor's appointment to April as both were scheduled for the same time. Right now my kidneys (one working kidney) gets priority as I am not having trouble with my eyes...routine testing on the amount of pressure in the eyes...I think.
We took Ken's paperwork to the school. The comp doctor said he can go back to work but can only be on his feet for four hours during his entire shift. Well of course his job as security at our high school requires that he be on his feet for his full shift. Because he only works 7.5 hours a day and due to the nature of his job, he doesn't even get a lunch hour or regular breaks. Anyway his boss told him that he can not come back with those restrictions so he has to stay off until released for full work duty including standing and walking his entire shift...sometimes that is from 2:30 - 11:30 pm although his regular shift is 2:30 - 9:30 pm...just depends on what is happening at the school and if he has students away. He has to stay until they are back and on their way to their homes. He goes back to the comp doctor on Monday afternoon. I have to change his bandage when he wakes up. Sure hope it looks better...if it isn't better on Monday, they will send him to the Wound Care Center for debrasion. He will flip out for sure if they have to do that. He hasn't had a tetanus shot in 15 years so had to have that yesterday also. I thought they were going to kill him with that little needle...he hasn't had any shots or blood work in the 17 years we have been together so I had no idea his feelings for needles...was not a pretty sight. lol I really tried to sympathize with him when I actually was laughing the entire time. Monday should be interesting.
He is sleeping at the moment. Should have his leg elevated but says that makes it hurt worse. He is able to stand and walk but after he is on it a while, it starts throbbing and he takes one of my pain pills. He will have to tell them that so they can get him his own. But if he sits very long, it also starts throbbing. So I hope he can find a happy medium between now and Monday. I told him we will have to keep a close eye on it. Because if it starts looking worse, he has to go straight to ER.
This is the shorten version of today...had to make a trip to Social Security Administration office, pick up medications, etc. Crazy day for sure.
Praise the Lord for all the He does in our lives. Where would we be without Him? That thought is just to scary for me to contemplate!
Blessings and hugs,
Helen
