Vital, vital information in collaboration with the Power of the Pause! I'm learning.....seeing things in a whole different aspect!
To thousands out there and to myself, I am going remind you of something today. YOU and I have NOT failed. What we have done however is live with the disappointment of unsuccessfully meeting our weight loss goals by falling into the trap of one commercial diet after another. It is the diets that have failed us.
I've also concluded that commercial diets have been nothing but a total waste of my time and money!
And in the end it's actually these commercial diets, fad diets that have made us fat! So here I am an absolute nobody that has FINALLY come to the reality; smack right between the eyes realization that there is but one solution--STOP dieting forever! Get off that treadmill! It's getting us NOWHERE!
And I'm tired of going to the doctors and hearing your metabolism isn't the same as most people's. It's different.
OK how is it different? I want that explained to me!
Or it's thyroid, that's the reason I'm 250 pounds plus!
Genetics is the next thing. It's a genetic metabolism disorder. So it's fat for me for the rest of my life! BULL!
So now I'm clinically depressed, suffering from hypertension, hypothyroid, and god knows how many other isms out there all because my doctor has told me that my body isn't functioning properly and I can't do anything about it except live with it? So decision time....
Starting Monday I'm going on a diet and trying to muster up the willpower and self-discipline to stick to it? WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!
It's been my experience and no doubt yours that the instant we start reducing calories our bodies instantly start craving high calorie foods! We immediately want what we "can't" or shouldn't have! We're on a diet! Instant slowing down of the metabolism; guaranteed exhaustion! And then the body immediately kicks into its defense mode of survival and starts storing existing what...FAT!
Just thinking about it sickens me now!
Food does not make you fat! Food is our fuel. Food is essential to staying a living breathing human being! It is a major part of our existence! So the solution in changing our bodies is to eat. What, you're thinking I've lost it? Have I? Not at all! What it means is we must first change our way of thinking. The way we think about food and changing out our eating habits and what we eat and the amounts we eat that is the key! Getting back in touch with our bodies and what is normal again.
It's not the easiest thing to do I know. I'm still working on the perfection of it myself, believe me! I've been so far into the insanity of dieting for so long that even just the thought of change seems dangerous!
So let's keep it as simple as possible; eat when you're hungry and drink when you're thirsty. Makes total sense to me!
And cutting back on caloric intake--totally not the sane thing to do. The more I do, (because I am and have become more active to burn the excess fat calories,) the more calories my body will require to function at a top healthy capacity! So it makes perfect sense that increasing my calorie intake is absolutely necessary to change the way I look and feel. But it is also necessary, essential to understand what it means to properly and adequately fuel my body in order to reduce.
So in order to get lean and healthy I start with eating? Have to eat to become lean. I have no doubt that this makes perfect sense to me now. Calories are now becoming my friend and not my enemy! After all it's not food that made me fat it's the wrong fats that made me fat, that and not moving!
Fat is what hangs from every part of my body; below my chin, arms, gut, butt.
So to me it's making more and more perfect sense that I need to increase my movement and caloric fuel and decrease what I've had way to much of all my life; FAT!
Go ahead you can think I've lost it but for the first time in my life I'm thinking clearly straight! It's fat that made me fat and not just any fat the WRONG kinds of fat! So what do I need to cut from my diet in order to lose weight? The wrong fats! Just stop buying and consuming the wrong fats. Right?
Simple? Not quite as simple as it sounds! I wish it were!
Unfortunately fat isn't always as plain as the nose on our face!
Just walk through the grocery store. Notice anything? Suddenly everything has become lean, light, low fat, fat free, cholesterol free. YEAH RIGHT! Give me a break!
Makes me stop and PAUSE doesn't? Thought: if everything is lean, light, low fat, fat free etc and I'm eating these things thinking I'm going to lose weight; FAT why isn't it happening!
Haven't you noticed? I know I certainly have! I've been eating lean, light, low fat, fat free and where has it gotten me? NOWHERE! Make one beg the question why?
Conclusion: hidden fat! Has to be. I think it's time we face the truth people! We've been DUPED! So how do we find the hidden fat? We need to become hidden fat formula detectives! And I certainly have! I'm a Sherlock Holmes in my own right LOL Only I have included a calculator along with my magnifying glass!
If there is one other thing I have learned from Susan Powter is the very useful and valuable tool of the fat formula!
From now on for every single bite of food I even plan on putting into my mouth I am going to do two things. Me and my trusty calculator are going to take the number of fat grams per serving and multiply them by 9. Then taking that answer we will divide it by the total number of calories This reveals the actual true percentage of fat calories are in a single serving!
So I no longer take into consideration the labels that scream at me or jump off the shelf at me just because they read 1/3 less fat, low fat, fat free, lean. light etc! I want to know if I'm eating 20% fat or 80% fat!
Another rule of thumb; that second thing I have enveloped and that is if the percentage of fat is higher than 20% or the product has no label.....It stays right where I found it; on the shelf, in the cooler, in the freezer of the grocery store!
So there it is I can have cookies, crackers, cakes, ice cream and all the snacky things I enjoy But let's be sensible; use my common sense. Eating 30-100% of the wrong fats is what made me fat! Cutting back is what's going to make the difference. Deprivation is not a mandatory requirement! It's just bloody common sense and I have plenty of that! Like I said I'm learning! And so far I've learned that it's high volume, high quality, lower fat calories of good fat and elimination of bad fat eating that is going to guarantee me weight loss!
