After 4 Rounds - Down 71 pounds!

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Thank goodness this round is almost over and there's only one more day of injections. If you look below my weight loss stopped at 180 this round. For now, I think I'm okay with this. I did my best and in previous years I was at this weight for a long time.

I need to break down and go to the doctor as this sinus infection that I've been fighting for the past three weeks is not getting any better. I think three weeks is long enough to let something fester:) It is starting to really effect my ability to function, my time at the gym is a struggle to get through, and I wake up several times during the night. This is my third infection in a short span of 8 months. This is odd for me, because I remember going years without getting sick. Perhaps dieting weakens the immune system? I'm just taking a wild guess. I have traveled extensively over the years and have never gotten ill.

Last week our basement flooded. The stuff that was down there is now drying out in our dining room and living room. Just seeing the the stuff I have to deal with is a bit of a challenge. I can't start to deal with it until everything is completely dry. There really aren't a huge amount of items because we've moved so many times over the years that the accumulation never gets that bad. Its little things like pictures, books, sun deck furniture, sewing stuff, dishes, files, etc. I went to Target the other day and Rubbermaid boxes to but everything into instead of cardboard. So if the flooding happens again the tubs will be waterproof!

This round was an experiment as I took a three week break in between this round and the last round. I probably won't do this again any time soon. The first two weeks were okay, but the last one was a challenge to get through.

I need to whine for a second here: I had dreams of hitting 175 this time around and getting down to 160 by the end of May. I have to reorganize my thoughts....I think getting to 170 by the end of May is a better goal. I just want this to come off so I can be done losing weight, ALREADY! I have another 50 pounds to go before my final goal of 130. I know I've come a long way already, but it seems like I still have a long way to go yet.

Start of Round 4 stats:
Pre-load weight: 187.5
Load weight: 192.8
VLCD Day 6: 185.2
VLCD Day 7: 182.8
VLCD Day 8: 182.2
VLCD Day 9: 180.6
VLCD Day 10: 179
VLCD Day 11: 179
VLCD Day 12: 180.5
VLCD Day 13: 179.5
VLCD Day 14: 178.5
VLCD Day 15: 180
VLCD Day 16: 179.5
VLCD Day 22: 180

Still wearing a size 12 and looking forward to being out of the 170s soon!

I actually have the opposite effect since being on HCG. I used to get sick all the time and now I've only been sick once in the last 10 months. It's been awesome!

Keep up the great work and just take things a day at a time, otherwise you may get overwhelmed. I understand the anxious anticipation of losing more, but be patient. Your body needs to lose it at it's own pace. It's still exciting to be so close to getting into the 170's! Keep going.

    Hey Cammie,
Great to hear from you! Hon you are doing fantastic, I know it get's hard when it slows down especially if you are sick. One of the things my friend and I found is the allergies get worse so if you have allergies that affect your sinus's like my friend they seem to get more sensitive. My food allergies are more sensitive now. On the Gluten Free Forum I found out it's normal. You might think that not having things would mean you could have more but it works the other way. Soveriegn Silver which is a hydrasol version works well and they have a nose spray or you can take it by mouth up to 4 or more times a day for acute things. Another one I love which helps sinus and colds is Umcka by Nature's Way. They have homeopathic non-alcohol drops that taste good and work fast. Hope you are feeling better soon! Yeah the stress of everything plus the basement takes the immune system down too. Make sure nothing is getting moldy because your sinuses might react to that. Hang in there! I know it's a long journey but you are doing positively amazing. Take care!!

Cammie you have done really well. You have flown a few times this round and had to deal with the stress of the basement in the short round. Plus you are at that previous weight and sick so it is probably just a stall. It stinks but it happens, as you know.

As the immunity, I think dieting does weaken immunity. During the summer I did not use any medications or supplements but I used to get sick all the time so for my winter rounds I still supplemented and it did not effect my losses. I took Ester-C, Viatmin D-3, Zinc, and a multi and am now taking oral B-12 as well and potassium and magnesium on occasion. I got an upper respiratory infection my last short round that lasted about 10-12 days total (4-5 of which were misery) but at least it did not turn into something more. Interestingly, illness (colds, infections, cancer) feed off sugar so it is the first thing you should dump when you feel sick BUT we already know you are sugar-free.....

You'll get to your goal. You are one of the most dedicated people around here! Good to hear from you

Seems like you are doing good. As for dieting and the immune system. When you diet you should be eating a healthy diet that includes plenty of, veggies, fruits, lean meats, eggs, low fat dairy, and whole grains. Dump all the white flour, white rice, white breads and use only whole grains. Dump the sugar! Everything else stays. If you diet the right way your body should be getting healthier and stronger not weaker. Also, make sure that you are eating enough. Many people want fast weight lose. (We all do) Yet slow with consistency beats the race. Good luck and have a great day!
