One Week Later

Well, my sugar dropped to 115 for the first time in a week yesterday (ideal level is 100, but 115 beats the 429 reading a week ago). I am now more aware of what I need to do to maintain steady health. I was a bit nervous that I wouldn't be able to achieve my goals without the oral medication; but as long as I inject insulin at least once per day and follow a solid diet and exercise regiman, I will be able to maintain. My doctor told me a year ago that he would be able to reduce (or even eliminate) medication if I could lose 50 pounds --so this is my primary goal this year. Will keep you posted!!!

It's so sad that I don't have insurance, but maybe this is a blessing in disguise. I need to wean myself from medication and start eating the right way to avoid the HIGH COST of medication. Holistic is the new way to go. I've always been an anti-pill popper but felt that the doctor knew best -- however, I always thought that there's something not quite right when you have to take 8-10 pills a day (from 4 different types of meds not including the low dose aspirin and vitamins). I am taking the baby steps towards good health today in order to avoid the nasty (high cost) consequences of tomorrow!! Do you feel me?
