Darn Pasta Craving

Yay for me not eating the pasta! I still can't control my pasta portions, so I'd rather avoid it altogether. My casserole was yummy, though :)

    I can totally relate to wanting to eat tons of food.

Congrats for hanging in there with not eating the pasta. I've moved to the organic whole grain stuff when I do eat it.

Chocolate is my "heart grows fonder" food.

    I too looooove pasta! I do indulge occasionally still BUT in a much healthier way. I am not trying to encourage you to eat pasta but just want to offer you some alternatives that might satisfy you.
First, you have got to try spaghetti squash! Sounds ridiculous right? It is really great though. A little bit of effort to cook the squash and not exactly like spaghetti, but close enough that I was happily surprised. Some marinara and a little really good, expensive cheese like pecorino or parmesiano reggiano (much stronger flavors so a little goes a long way!) so amazing!
Also, try some pasta's either made with 100% whole grains, or soy or rice and what I do is use my food saver and vacuum seal individual portion sizes so that I never make more than a serving size. The whole grain pasta's are really good and much more satisfying I think than traditional due to the higher fiber content.
Another really great addition or substitution for a cheese for the pasta is fat free feta. It tastes exactly like regular feta but no fat! I make a cold pasta salad with red peppers, onions, olives, artichoke hearts and sometimes some chopped ham or turkey and the fat free feta with salt, pepper, herbs de provence, EVOO and a quality champagne vinegar. Yummy and so healthy!
I wanted to share because I am a true believer that we should never deprive ourselves of what we love, but we can find healthier alternatives and with some research and creativity can feel good about eating the things we love! emoticon

    emoticon look at you rockstar ..taking control and not giving into that "i love you too much" relationship. .. .just tell the pasta "i love u so much im going to let you go" heheh
