My Journey - Planning to get there.

Friday, March 05, 2010

I'm new to this site - really enjoying it, but still trying to find my way around. I linked on to the geographic team area today and via that found 'Hampshire'. I wonder if there's ever a meet up event? I've noticed other groups seem to be getting that together - or are we all too busy to commit?

I know I'm waiting for the sunshine to also bring some warmth with it, so I can do some 'shingle walking' down at the beach - it kills your calf muscles, but is a damn good workout. I also like the local forest, for a good tramp about, but have been known to get lost towards dusk, when the fog comes down !!! So now only go with a friend on clear crisp, or warm sunny days, with plenty of time to spare - lol.

I'm looking forward to all my excess pounds melting away, as the days warm up - the walking increases and the salads abound.

For the moment though, I'm walking into town (2 miles each way) at least once a week, occasionally walking to work (also 2 miles each way) and planning to walk 4 miles through local fields tomorrow. On the inclement days, it's the Wii - when time and workload permits.

Rediscovering which foods I genuinely enjoy, rather than eating quick fix 'rubbish', is a pleasure and I'm sure will be one of my keys to success.

For I will succeed!

Thanks for all the welcomes and encouragements, folks. I'm looking forward to all of this. Spiffycat - I love walking in the Forest of Bere, but don't ever risk it alone so that limits me. I wonder if it might be a good place to do a HANTS Team jaunt - I'll make a suggestion on the Hogs' Trough and see what the uptake might be.

To date we have been so small that a get together has hardly seemed an option. Once I get back from New Zealand Catherine and I will set our minds to it and see what we can come up with.
Pleased to see you blogging already, thats always a positive step. Remember not to set your sights too high, baby steps are the key to success. Don't be disappointed if things don't work well to start with, you will get there and we will do all we can to help you.

The walking is a Good Thing! I recently found that having become used to it, my body resents it when I don't bother to walk! All the best on SP!
