Isn't she lovely...

Today is my lovely daughter's 18th birthday! I LOVE that kid SOOOOO much - it almost takes my breath away. 18 years of watching her turn from a much longed for baby girl into a BEA - U - TI - FUL young woman. After two boys who were 11 & 5 when she was born, was it nice to have another FEmale in the house! I dressed her in pink & froufrou for the first 5 years of her life. (Probably why she can't stand pink now...oops!)

When she was 8, her older brother died at the age of 19. The ONLY thing that kept me going was her and her brother. And then their dad and I split up and her brother went to live with their dad. So it was just the two of us until Henry came along. They get along famously. (They gang up on me regularly...grrrr!)

This wonderful young lady will be graduating from high school in a couple of months. She is SO excited about starting college. I feel her moving away from me bit by bit every day now. It makes me sad in some ways but so very happy in others. She is working on growing the most amazing set of adult "wings" you could imagine. Her innate sense of right and wrong has kept me from having too many "scared" mom moments as she has flexed those growing wings.

What does this have to do with fitness & weight loss? Nothin'...but that's my day and it's pretty darn good. As my SP friend Annie says, "May your days be beautiful in all colors."

Of course it has to do with fitness. Our emotional fitness is the most important of all. I am sorry about your son, Geinah, but it seems like God blessed you with this one!

What a wonderful celebration for you -- not ONLY of your daughter's birthday, but also of all of the great parenting you have done to get her to this point. I think congratulations are in order for BOTH of you!
