I have been visiting my parents for the last six days near Hilton Head, SC. Watching how they handle food has been an eye opener for me. If they want to have a glass of wine they will take some nuts and crackers and put them in a small ramekin. I have always had the packages out and just kept eating them until it was all gone. I am going to start putting a portion in a ramekin and when I have finished it, just stop. The second thing they do is they only eat until satiated. I have always ate past the point of feeling satiated and felt stuffed. I now realize that I don't have to go back for seconds. Also if I have a big meal midday, I don't need a big meal for dinner. We went to a low country boil. For dinner we had fruit, vegetable and yogurt. I am going apply these at home. I have been reading the blue zone. It is about the common characteristics of centurions. They eat little to no meat and lots of legumes and rice. When you eat less meat but more legumes and rice the weight is supposed to melt off. I am going to add more beans and legumes to my diet.
