Week 6 Update

This was a tough week for me. Tough because nothing I did seemed to work. I got in the position that I am in because I am a stress eater. I turned to food for comfort. Especially desserts and cakes, etc. Now my problem is I am not eating enough. For the past 6 weeks unless I went completely off the "healthy" side of the dining menu, I kept my daily calorie count under 1000 calories. Most of the time I would hover around 600 or 700. That's obviously too low. I lost close to 15 lbs the first three weeks and then my weight got stuck. I knew I was eating too little, but my mind was saying - you are not starving - you are providing it some nutrients - it will catch on and you will lose weight - keep staying there. Well, I said last week I was going to eat more. It didn't happen so much. Now I am consciously looking for additional foods to eat (those that are low carb, low fat, and low calorie) to keep me at least at 1000 calories. I went as far as to eat a chocolate covered donut (not a great choice for the calories/fat/carb quota), but even after eating that I was still under all my calorie, carb, & protein quota.
Water is not an issue for me now. I drink it in mass quantities. I fix a cup of coffee in the mornings, or buy one, and never finish it. The only time I drink diet soda's anymore is if I'm trying to pull an all nighter. My body should be quite detoxed.
For so long I refused to eat it. I would look at the amount of sugars it held and I would think NO WAY! That's too much! Then I joined SparkPeople and I realized even on a low calorie diet, yogurt is good for you. A person can truly never live on a no carb diet. Maybe a zero net cab - even then that's next to impossible because most fruits and veggies have carbs.
So I researched and I discovered that not all yogurts are created equal. There are two I have stocked in my fridge at the moment. Yoplait Light Thick & Creamy and the Fiber One yogurts. Both range from 50 - 110 calories a serving, but make - in my unprofessional weight loss opinion - amazing breakfast and snacks.
Here are my favorites that I would highly recommend you try if you are new to the world of yogurt and want something that is going to taste half way decent!
* All of the Fiber One Healthy Girl approved yogurt flavors (vanilla, strawberry, peach)
* Yoplait flavors: Apple Turnover, Blueberry Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Roll, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Raspberry Cheesecake, Red Velvet Cake (I've been on a mission to find one of these and finally a co-worker found them in her grocery store!) - just to name a few.
As you can see I use yogurt as a way to have the foods I love, but can't have at the moment. Completely satisfies my urge for something sweet.
Last week was awful - the scale said I gained 10 lbs. Almost the entire week it said that. I even went out and bought a new scale. Not exactly that one, but same price, etc, just a different color. Got on that scale and it said I weighed even more. I really sank into a depression - it was tough to look at myself. I have scheduled a doctor's appointment for this Wednesday to have my Thyroid checked and get the all clear from my doctor that my weight loss is on the right track.
Then I stopped weighing around Thursday and Friday. Sunday is my offical weigh in day and it said I had dropped the10 lbs I had gained from last week, and even gone down 1 more lb.
My body measurements have changed a bit as well this week.
I've lost 1/2" in my waist, 1 1/2" in my hips (I can tell in my clothes too!), 1/2" in my thighs. Everything else is the same - although I'd swear my chest has gotten smaller. Oh well.
This week I didn't go to the gym as frequently as I wanted. I went for 2 days back to back and spent close to 2 hours there each time, burning over 1000 calories (according to my heart rate monitor watch pictured). I did my wii active for 2 days in the morning before going to work. I worked out a total of 4 out of 7 days, which I believe made the difference in my measurement victory mentioned above.
At the gym my routine is to immediately go to the elliptical and work on that for 60 minutes. I use the weight loss profile and I increase the resistance to 2. Turning on my music to my "Workin' Out" mix, I am usually set. After the intense cardio, I go to circuit training, doing 3 or 4 reps of 15 on machines that either focus on my stomach and legs or stomach then arms. I try to get my stomach in daily since I am having to deal with the fact that I had two children, one from c-section, and a lot of excess skin. Bleh!
So this week was productive, but disappointing. Next week I am going to literally force myself to eat at least 1000 calories each day. Lets see how this goes. It's odd that it's hard for me now. I should probably change the title of my blog from natneagle to Confessions of a Crazy Woman!
