I am celebrating 7 years of NOT smoking... woohoo!
The hardest time I have is my anniversary month. I crave cigarettes more then any other time of the year.
The reason I quit? I did not want to die from heart disease.
However, with Spark I have learned that smoking is only ONE factor of heart disease. I am still at great risk because of my history and my genes. Both of my parents have heart disease. I was malnourished for part of my life, and I have a few chronic issues that may impact the health of my heart.
When I quit, I was just learning about nutrition and how it affects the body. And too, how important nutrients are and that they are a vital part of a balancing it all.
With spark I am learning the imporatance of daily exercise. Especially the importance of strength training.
I do use spark trackers as often as I can; I try to be consistent, because tracking my calories and water intake is vital to my well being. I need to balance what is going in and what is going out.
Good days -
Bad days -
or in-between days -
I just keep on keeping on!
Spark friends motivate and encourage me - as I hope I am motivating and encouraging them. I need encouragement and support sometimes! Just as I am sure you do.
This month is heart healthy month - what are you doing to have a healthier heart?
