dodging the girlscouts

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Went shopping yesterday- you just can't have too much clean kitty litter in this household. Well, well, well. Here I am doing SUCH a good job not eating the goodies and there they were. I was so focused on getting in and out I didn't see the little pigtails, their spirited group comraderie, the adult chaperones setting up tables, the matching outfits, until we were right on them. What to do??? Nowhere to hide- they see me.
Is it rude to avert your eyes from those cute little girl scouts? They just want to support their cause. They really don't mean me harm. But their cookies do.
First year that I have not bought at least one box. Girl scouts of the world, my apologies. I'll buy just about anything else- but I can't even touch a box. No, I can't freeze it or give it to a neighbor. You see, I can't even have it in my car. It won't make it home. One will turn in to another, and then another, and I'll be full and still won't stop. I'll eat until I make myself sick....and then eat more.
I darted in and out of the store and have decided if one of the dears actually gets me I'll kindly make a donation to their cause but this woman is "off the cookies" !
Have a beautiful sunday.

I so know what you mean! I ended up buying 5 boxes from my daughter's friend UGH- luckily I have my nieces coming to visit and my 3 own little girls who will hopefully quickly polish them off!

Good for you for resisting temptation! I know it's hard when they are just about everywhere during cookie season! I'm so thankful that I can't eat most of them, so there are only a few that tempt me at all, and then I just try to think about how I wouldn't want to pay that much to put fat on my thighs :D

That's tough...especially in my situation when my parents buy them anyway. Good for you though!

I have always bought the cookies, being a former girl scout and all.... but, this year I averted my eyes and felt so guilty as I walked in and out of Krogers...
Oh well, I do wish them luck, but I just cannot have them in my house.

I hear ya. If you get away from friends daughters selling them, they sneak up on ya at the grocery stores. I have one box sitting on my desk. I'm givin me to anybody that will take one. They can't be gone fast enough.

We saw the Girl Scouts on a cold blustery day here in sunny Florida. They were wrapped in blankets and jumping up and down.
I said no thanks but they were calling my name (the cookies not the girls)

I did buy some from a co-worker's daughter but they are going right to the mother-in-law! My DH has decided HE needs to lose a little weight too so hallelujah -- no more tempting cookies in the house!

It was a chore for me too! I bought some from a coworker's daughter with the intention of leaving them at work for others to enjoy. Even that seems wrong (encouraging others to misbehave) but I'll bet they get eaten anyway!!

We should have a contest to make suggestions for a better fundraiser: girl-scout fiber bars?
