I'm also a member of Columbia, SC Team and we have engaged and pledged to meet at least once a month for a lengthy walk. Note that though our group is 3,400 strong...yes, THREE THOUSAND, four hundred...a mere .235% attendance. Of those, 3 are kids. What's wrong people, where is the committment?? It's ONLY once a month.
But I won't allow the lack of effort of others to deter me. During the past two months, I have been engaged in a graduate class on Saturdays and have even dodged out of class early to make it to a part of the Rally...some time with the Rally is better than none at all.
From this effort with the group I have gained a better sense of myself, a better love of nature (we've been walking in the Riverfront Park off of Huger Street), I thoroughly enjoy the comraderie, and everyone seems to have a very healthy sense of humor.
Like dealing with health, weight, and life in general - the rally effort is a process but like the aforementioned, it's a progress as well. The thousand mile journey began with a single step. So I continue to put one foot in front of the other as I too Rally On to a SPARKIER (yes, that's (going to be) a word) me!
