~ Tuesday - 2/16/10 ~

Let me begin by saying that this workout is intense. It is deceptively hard. The movements are slow and subtle and attention to form is crucial in executing the exercises safely and correctly... "this is the challenge...

The bar comes with 2 dvd's... one has 3 workouts on it, "Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced" and the other is a "Thigh and Rear" workout... I started with the "Beginner's"... I didn't really time it, next time I will, but I think it was at least 20 minutes... This workout was very challenging... They are similar to the Lotte Berk method... e.g., hips tucked, abs in... "this is not easy to do"... but if done correctly the exercises are doable and commands "ALL" of your attention. The exercise reps, at least for the beginner workout, range in reps from 5 to 20 and there is no rest until each exercise combination is completed, per side... emoticon... yes... it is slow and grueling!... but I love it...

It begins with a very short warm-up and then on to standing legs, stretches, then on to mat work for quad, core and some upper body work. there is one workout where your back is flat against the mat wall / core tight, and your hands are holding the bar ... you then lift your feet/legs off of the floor and open and close them... this works both the core and the quads (... upper thigh area)... this is very difficult and the beginner level executes the move with feet just lightly brushing the mat...

For upper body/shoulder she does a pull-up... just like Cathe does on her new tower squat rack... so this will work for me when/if I get Cathe's STS series... These are hard for me, I was not able to do a full pull-up yet, I followed the modified version and still got a decent back/shoulder workout... She also does push-ups, but instead of doing the push-ups on the floor, I did them on the bar, instead of wall push-ups...

... you can do a pull-up exactly like this with the Fluidity bar...

Now I guess I could have gotten Cathe's tower and bought the Fluidity workouts... but then I wouldn't have been able to fold it up for storage, that is a big plus for me... so I am satisfied with my decision to buy it. It also comes with a ball for toning, a pump, 2 stretchy bands and a "Guide to Healthy Eating"...

The "bar" itself, weighs 60 pounds and is amazing... I love it... it is very well made and exactly as the company described it to be...

I am feeling this workout today... in my abs, rear, hamstrings and quads... and all without lifting weights... I will be alternating this workout with Pilates and lifting weights... for lots of variety...

... all in all, this is a great workout.

Look on craigslist... Tons of people selling them, because they don't like it. Some $150.

I just stumbled on this post while searching for info. on Fluidity. I'm not certain I want to spend that much money. Do you still love it?

Thank you so much for posting. I've been going back and forth on whether I should purchase the Fluidity Bar. I used to be a dancer and the idea appeals to me, but it is a pretty big expense. I think I'm going to do it though.

Thanks for the share darlin but you KNOW how I feel about "slow and grueling" emoticon . I'm sure it's wonderfully effective though. I've done Lotte Berk and The Bar Method and they are no joke. Glad your happy honey!! You know I'm all for changing things up
Love Ya!

That's cool. Cathe's tower has not received good reviews because of it's "flimsy" construction. It wobbles and feels unstable while being used. This might be a good alternative with or without the DVDs. Thanks for sharing your great find!

That looks like an awesome workout. Sort of reminds me of the Pilates Reformer.
