Warsaw Cafe inspired Valentine's Day Menu

Sunday, February 14, 2010

My Hubby & I cook for a group of Sr. Citizens every month. They requested 'cabbage rolls' for Valentines Day so this is the menu we are preparing. They love trying new things & enjoy my Hubby's creative cooking skills. I thought I would share this one since it is a rather interesting and entertaining:

Borscht (Beet Soup w Sour Cream garnish)
Cannelloni Salad

Gwumpkies stuffed with ground veal, polish sausage, onions, rice, mushrooms & herbs
Stuffed Red & Yellow Peppers - with ground turkey, finely chopped vegetables & fresh ground fennel

Fresh Green Beans
Steamed Cabbage Hearts

Sugar Free Applesauce or Pear Halves with Cinnamon Hearts
Dove Chocolate Hearts & Hershey Kisses
ChocoVino - a product of Holland

The food sounds delicious. How kind of you and your husband to prepare a nice special meal each month for the group of seniors!

I am so glad to hear that other people know what "halupsa" is. That is the Russian name for cabbage rolls. The German name escapes me right now but it is a family favorite. What a wonderful menu. I am sure they enjoyed it immensely! emoticon
