Is 1800 cal/day too much?

I just finished reading Calories 101 and I am understanding better what my body needs, but... is 1800 cal/day too much?? I feel like it is, even though I've been pigging out today and have almost reached 1800 cal. But I have been eating around 1600 cal/day this week. ive only lost 0.6lbs this week, and is my lower cal intake a reason why?? All day long it has been bothering me. I just want to find a reason behind the small number. I worked out everyday this week so far except today. I am a bit stressed out since yesterday. Things have just been happening that aren't so pleasant lately and I am just uncomfortable and irritable, and I think that I may need a Xanax! emoticon I tried to figure out how much cal I need to eat to lose a pound a week and it came up to be 1822 cal/day. When I did Weight Watchers 2 years ago, I had 34 points a day, and I lost about 25lbs in 12 weeks. How many calories are in 34 points?? I am so confused, I just want to know... I don't know what I want to know, I think I'm PMSng today... that's it! ARGH I wish I could just curl up in a corner and rock back n forth in the fetal position. LOL ::SIGH:: Stupid hormones, stupid PMS, stupid stupid stupiddddddddddddd

    I had heard that you take your weight and times it by 7 and that is the number of calories you need to loose weight, for a lighter person they should never go under 1200 calories for the day. that works out to just around the number of calories they give you here on sparks. Just a thought. emoticon

    If you use the fitness tracker and put in the amount of exercising you do each day, it will automatically put on your food tracker how many calories you need each day.

    Everyone is different, my range is 1200-1400, and like others said, 1800 is perfect for them.

    Everyone is different. I know that for ME, 1800 is about right. If you have a heart rate monitor, find out what YOUR daily caloric need is by leaving it on for a 24 hour period. Everyone is different. Even when you're the exact same height and weight as someone else you have a different metabolism and you burn more/less every day.

In my case I was eating too little calories so my body went into starvation mode and wouldn't allow me to lose any weight. What I know for a fact though, is that my nutritionist mother-in-law tells me never to go under 1200 calories for my weight. She says I can't get adequate nutrition with such few calories.

It's so difficult to get personal advice from other people because every single body is different. As you get smaller, you'll need less calories. If I were you I'd try it at 1800 and see what the result is. As my friend always tells me, you canNOT judge your results by a single day of changing things up. Try it for at least a week and see what you find. As you become more familiar with your body and your needs you can adjust it better.

    My range (calculated by SP) is 1500 - 1900 a day and I'm losing relatively good.

It definitely depends on how much you weigh, how much you want to lose, and over what period of time.

    1,800 cals a day is too many for me. I have to stay at around 1,100-1,200 to lose weight.
