The other day, while I was rushing around doing errands, I didn't have time to eat a proper lunch. Instead, I picked up a bag of trail mix at Target. I thought ... healthy, protein, it'll get me through the afternoon.
Problem #1: It was NOT pre-portioned. The bag had something like 8 servings in it.
Problem #2: I left the bag in the car and grabbed a handful (or two or three) pretty much every time I got back into the car (this is L.A. folks, we're ALWAYS in the car) until the bag was empty.
What did I learn? If I am going to take a snack for the car, it will be a pre-portioned bag of trail mix, or a bar, or a bag of carrots (nobody ever got fat eating carrots). I will not keep more than one or two servings in the car with me at any time, because it is dangerous and if I do so, I'm only setting myself up for failure.
