Pizza - I tried Amy's Spinach Pizza

I love pizza. No seriously, I LOVE pizza. I have tried various “diet” pizzas, but the list of ingredients is longer than some short stories! So I tried an all-natural pizza for dinner tonight and was thoroughly impressed.
I bought an Amy’s cheese pizza about a week ago and was bummed with how greasy it was. I didn’t end up eating it. But this time I picked a spinach pizza which looked pretty darn good.
And it was! I baked it in the oven for ten minutes, but the outside was getting pretty crispy. I like my crust soft and chewy (of course!) so I took it out and heated it through in the microwave. Sounds like a weird way to go about dinner, but it really worked. It was heated through without getting crunchy.
I usually don’t like any toppings on my pizza other than sauce and cheese. I love veggies, but prefer them on the side versus being on top of my pizza. The only exception to this no-topping rule used to be pineapple, but I stopped being able to stomach pineapple awhile back. Which makes me sad, because I love the taste, but the acidity of it just turns my stomach now.
But the spinach didn’t even really seem like a “topping” it was more mixed into the sauce. The taste was in a word…FANTASTIC! It was like having a spinach-dip on top of nice chewy bread.
On the side I had my favorite salad.
I apparently made my plate in the spring of 1992. I find it very funny that I still have it! I always use that plate when I have pizza because it’s the biggest and I guess mostly just because of tradition. It’s my “pizza plate”!
One day when I feel a bit better about my cooking skills I will tackle making my own crust. I like that I can trust the ingredients in Amy’s pizzas, and I liked that they had a low-sodium version of the spinach pizza. But there is something about truly making my own food that makes me feel good.
Do you make your own pizza or buy it? Or, do you even eat pizza? Am I alone here in my pizza love??
