How much am I suppose to eat...A little bit....frustrated!

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

So, I've been on plan for 5 weeks, as of yesterday! I've been pretty good about staying within my calorie range, with mainly healthy calories, I have been getting a minimum of 60 minutes of cardio, 6 days a week and ST for 35 minutes 4 times a week...and I've been drinking a gallon of water a day, YES I said a gallon! lol

So, anyways...the last week of January I had to go away for the entire week, for business conference. This had me literally in meetings from 7:00 am - 11:00 pm everyday, except Friday, when I was lucky enough to get out at 4, so I could go HOME!! Anyways...with that crazy schedule, I barely ate...and when I did I had no control over it because it was whatever was catered...and I literally had very minimum or no water at all because I couldn't leave the room every 10 minutes to go potty! haha...Okay, so the point, right...the point is, before the trip I was averaging 3.8 pounds a week loss...after the trip, I haven't lost a thing, and I'm actually back up 2 pounds!!!! What the HECK!
Okay, so now you all have a good idea of my eating and workout schedule...any ideas as to why I'm gaining and NOT losing???????

Last night I found an article, and it said that in order to lose weight consistantly, you should be eating 25% less than your BMR...well, here's my question...does that mean my regular BMR of 1976, or my "moderate activity" BMR of 3039, cause umm, hello...in case you didn't notice...there's a HUGE difference there! lol Not to mention my spark calorie range is NOWHERE near either of these numbers...so who's right, whats wrong...why won't my body lose any weight?!? And, does this process even really work...who knows?!

I'm really getting past frustrated and now really worried, because I have goals, that are set for a reason...and the first is a location wedding on May 29th, and soon I'm gonna have to rsvp...and I am seriously not going unless I am down another 45 pounds! This is not cool, and I need help! emoticon

Any and all help is totally appreciated...Thanks to all!!! emoticon

When I am nursing I hit really big plateaus. For me I wasn't eating enough food. I would eat in my cal range and lose weight. When I fell below it I would stop losing till I got my calories up. With as much as you are working out I would guess you may need a few more calories to start losing again, but I am not sure what range you are eating at. what range are you at and how many weeks have you not lost, if it's just one then I wouldn't change a thing if it is 2 then I would play with the calorie range, either up or down. Another things I have done that helps is to eat higher on my calorie range one day and low on the calorie range the next to confuse your body and bet it to break the plateau. Hope this info helps a little :) You will break through it!

Food like this is notoriously full of salt, fat, and calories so you may be retaining water or just have gained a couple of pounds. But you have no choice. In addition 1 or 2 plus or minus pounds is considered normal fluctuation due to fluids moving in and out of cells.

45 pounds is a lot to lose in that period of time. I would not eat less than 1200 calories a day but you could try more exercise and less calories.

Perhaps you hit a plateau? There are some good articles on here for that. Have you tried mixing up your workouts? Maybe eating different things if you haven't been? I would try to search on SP about plateau-ing. You may find some helpful info!

Sometimes a crazy week happens when you get unexpected results. Plus your body was getting used to one routine, then suddenly you ate way less food and drank way less water and your body could have been saying "WHOA - HOLD IT! What's going on???". Get back to your "new" routine this week, hang in there, and I bet you have much better results.

Just keep with it. I wish I had advice but I don't sorry...good luck. Just remember some times with change is fitness a gain can happen.
