Instead Of Being A Slave To The Squarish Box With Telling Numbers...

Take your body measurements once month!

Here are my month of changes in me. I did my measurements a few days after my WI in January. So my recaps are a little bit later in the month.

January February as of 2/6 Difference
Weight 296 289 -7
Waist 43.5 42.25 -1.25
Hips 58.75 55 -3.75
Thigh 34 33.5 -.5
Upper Arm 17.25 16.5 -.75
Butt 57.75 58.75 +1
Above Knee 39.75? 27.75 -12?/-2
Bust 46.25 46.25 0
Ribcage 39.25 39.25 0

I think my above knee measurement may have initially been 29.75 instead of 39.75. Actually, I'm pretty sure it was since my thigh measurement was 34 so I KNOW that my above knee area is NOT larger than my thigh! I have no idea how to edit this measurement now though.

I'm pretty happy with my results. Yeah, the bigger butt measurement doesn't thrill me but I will consider it part of my tone up and aim to bring down in the next month! I like charting my measurements because it gives me another way to see my progress. Yes, I may not be losing quickly in the pounds department but I can measure my successes in other areas.

I think this shows us that we can be successful in many areas of our weight loss journey. Yes the scale is one way we see are our progress. However, we CANNOT go by the scale alone. So take your measurements and see how you are shrinking all over. Go by your energy level too and how those once tight clothes are now fitting. Pick one pair of pants or a top that you know may be a little small right now. Use those as a tracking device. See how it fits once a month. DO NOT live by the emoticon alone. It will only serve to discourage you and take you off course. But most of all, KEEP believing in yourself and SHOOTING for the moon, REACHING for the stars! You can accomplish anything you set your mind & heart on!

I love taking my measurements and watching those numbers go down.
I use as many tools as possible to show myself I'm making strides in the right direction.

Great job with your new numbers!!! You're doing emoticon

I take my measurements monthly too. I didn't see much difference between January and February but I'm hoping to see a big difference between February and March.

Great job on the measurements! I do my measurements once a month to remind me that the number isn't quite as important as the overall results. We all want to lose weight for health and a little beauty (at least I do LOL) so when I see those inches going it's waaaaaaaay better than seeing a few pounds go down.

Congrats Simone! Not just for the great success you have had over the last month in losing so many inches - but also in gaining the perspective necessary to truly understand what this journey is about - and the necessary mindset to get there! KUDOS!

That is great! I think the increase in the butt is due to lifting and toning, don't you?

I used photos and the scale my first year. This year, I decided to do measurements instead. I am kind of sorry I did not measure a year ago for reference...but I am doing it now! I plan to measure quarterly. Hopefully that will show me what I am not seeing on the scale now that the losing has slowed down. It shouldn't really slow down yet, I still have like 100 pounds to go, but slow it is.

I haven't ever measured myself but I look different and my clothes fit much better. I'm a slave to the scale right now but I see that changing when my goals become different. By the way, thanks for being there for me every day.

That's what we're doing in our house...monthly measurements. The scale failed me this week and last, but my measurements this week made me realize I AM accomplishing something!!!

And I think you can edit it by going back in time! Go to your measurements and go to the day that you recorded it. Hope that works!!! Otherwise...that would be one funny leg ;)
