YOU CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF WITHOUT CHANGING YOUR LIFE!
Yesterday I set down 10 goals for myself to work on in the coming weeks. One of them is to go 10 days with nutrition tracking and keeping calories in control with more fruits and veggies. I start that tomorrow. I had to get through this weekend with the big Mardi Gras Party we went to last night and super bowl. Today will be a planning day. The Party was FAB! Great Band, great food, beautiful thin men and women. I can't recall any really overweight people there, like 100 pounds overweight. Mostly there were beautiful thin women wearing fabulously fancy dresses! We have a friend who is a size 0 and she was wearing a borrowed 35 year old dress that was absolutely gorgeous. It was flamenco style with puffy sleeves and a brilliant turquoise. My friend Pat has an enormous wardrobe of African Dresses and she can wear those with flair. She always wears a coordinated scarf or headpiece on her head. Wish I could pull that off. I just pulled some things out of the closet and looked very nice myself. But I would love to be one of those thin women wearing a fancy dress next year and everyone commenting on how good I look. My husband was wearing a three piece white tailsuit that he got from a bridal store that was going out of business. We go to a lot of formal affairs with my company and his job with the Chamber of Commerce, thus the large wardrobe.
To get back to planning, I was on the Sonoma Diet for several years and did well on it. It is the mediterranean way of eating and I did lose 18 pounds. THe first 10 days you are to give up all sweets, including diet sodas and anything with articial sweetener in it. Also no alcohol. Your plate is supposed to be half veg and 1/3 protein and carb. It is very similar to the proposed Spark eating plan so I may pull that book out and look at it today. The first time I did it, I lost 10 pounds in the first 10 days. We had just come off of the Decorating Den convention and I knew I was retaining fluid and had over eaten. So the fluid went away. And a few pounds to boot. It took me forever to lose 8 more pounds, months, mainly because I cheated a bit and it is a slow diet. One woman lost 88 pounds and never cheated once. They have good recipes but Sparks recipes are so much better, more variety.
Today we are taking Mom-in-law to a brunch and I know I will get an omelet with veggies in it and fruit. Have to get ready.
