Bloated & disgusting

Saturday, February 06, 2010

That's the way I feel right now. I had a really good weigh in yesterday but tonight I feel like I blew it. My friend invited my husband and I out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and I planned ahead, picked out the sensible menu item by looking at the menu online, but when we got there....BAM...out the window. First I had the white roll with cinnamon butter, oh so delicious. Then my friend ordered loaded fries and of course I had to try a couple of those. Healthy salad. The planned sirloin kabob and rice didn't stand a chance, instead a nice slab of prime rib with a baked potato was in front of me. After a month of healthy eating (the right food and portions) my stomach didn't take the blow so well. I feel so gross. I don't want to go anywhere near the food tracker right now!

I'm going to go sleep this lump of food away and start fresh with a nice nature hike with the kids tomorrow (if the windchill isn't 30 below).

Hope you are back on track and not worrying about the "slip up" anymore. Having a day off once in a while may be good to keep yourself from feeling like you are being deprived. Just plan one in and go on. Those rolls are hard to pass up (I'm thinking Logans). I just tell the waiter not to even bring them to the table, although, I caught myself being a voyuer last time we went, as the lady at the next table was having one! lol. sigh...but...not on my plan for that night! I wouldn't be able to stop. They're like crack! lol

It happens, to all of us.

Put the memory of how you feel in a mental file and pull that memory out again when you find yourself in that kind of situation again.

For now, what's done is done, and you just have to move on from here.

Put it in your tracker, and get going again. Maybe it'll take a week to work it off again, maybe less. But you'll get yourself back to where you want to be.

...and remember to tell ME this, next time I screw up, OK? LOL

A couple of my favorite expressions:

    "Mistakes are opportunities for learning."

"Nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels!"

    Take care of yourself...

Come on now!!!! Stop beating yourself up over one meal. If I did that, I'd be black and blue with a couple of broken bones. Just dust yourself off and get back on track. We all have weak moments and you're no exception.

    Great big hugs,

But did you enjoy any of this food as you ate it? Sometimes it's just nice to splurge - and you are allowed to do that once in a while! What I (try to) do is order what I really want and then take half of it home. I had lasagna the other night, with delicious bread, but as I began eating I made myself cut the (huge) lasagna portion in half.
I find that I do better if I'm not depriving myself all the time. (I should add, though, that it's taken me YEARS to get to this point...)
