Snow

Saturday, February 06, 2010

I was at work last night when the snow started. By the time I was supposed to leave for home, there was about 4 inches of snow on the ground. Not too much, but I have a Saturn, not very good in the snow. So the guy relieving me for the night came in early and says it's not too bad out there, get home before it gets worse. I called my hubby, his cousin was just at our house to pick up his daughter, and said that the interstates weren't too bad, but once he got to the road to our house, he made the tracks. My hubby said if I could make it to the restuarant at the end of our road, he would come pick me up.

So I went back and forth for a while, should I just stay at work, or try to make it home. I decided to try to make it home. What a mistake! I did ok on the roads by work, I ended up behind a plow, which made driving not too bad. Wish I could have talked the plow into staying in front of me the whole way home! LOL! Then I got out to the interstate. Not too bad for most of the way home. There were tractor trailers on the road, and they were aggressive last night. One passed me on the right, and I am still trying to figure out how he did that! Then about 3 miles to my exit, I spun out. 180 degrees one way, then 180 degrees the other, and then 180 degrees back again. I got the car to stop, and was lucky enough not to cause an accident or hit anything, and stayed on the road. Got to my exit, and could feel the car slipping again. Didn't spin out again, but kept going slowly. Made it to the restaurant, and called my hubby and he came and got me. I kept telling him, I should have just stayed at work!

Got up this morning, and went and shoveled snow for 3 hours. I am feeling that now! Took a shower and got ready to come into work. I have my hubby's truck, which has 4 wheel drive, and what a difference. I was able to make it out the road I live on (it hadn't been plowed yet) without any trouble, and once I got to the interstate, they had it clear, it was just wet! PennDot did a great job on the interstates, just wish they could get to the secondary roads a little faster.

The storm dumped 15 inches at my house. The kids loved it. I will post snow pictures tomorrow if I get a chance. I still have to go and get my car from the restaurant parking lot. Hopefully we will be able to do that tomorrow.

Wow, spinning out like that must have been scary - glad you weren't in an accident because of it! 3 hrs. of snow shovelling - now that's exercise and probably some sore muscles as well. 15" of snow - Bobbi - you can keep it, sorry. We are so fortunate we didn't get a snowflurry - cold, but with son. Take Care driving!!!

I have a little 4 wheel drive Tracker, loveing the security it gives me in the snow. There is only about 8-10 inches at my house, and I just shoveled a wide path to the mailbox and one to the garage.......I can get through the back driveway at the garage with the 4 WD, should I have the need to go anywhere. I susre do NOT miss needing to get out to go to work,
Splash had a hoot in the snow, and tonight I don;t know which one of us is more tired!
