Time to Increase Exercise Intensity

Friday, February 05, 2010

Well, today I measured myself. I thought I would have lost inches, but I was the same in all areas except one with .25" lost. Some clothes have felt loose and I feel stronger. So I was disappointed at the numbers. I was also up a pound this morning.

I was very tired this morning because I only got @6 hours of sleep last night. My schedule has changed in the last couple of weeks. I now have a baby that comes at 6:30 in the morning 3 days a week and I have to pick up my daughter at work at 11:00 at night. So, it all hit me this morning. I didn't want to exercise and I felt depressed because I didn't see any results.

Then, it hit me. This is usually where things stall out. Whenever I have gotten down to @236 lbs it seems like my body says no more. I have heard of a set point and I think that's mine.

So, after lunch I decided it was time to step up the exercise and get over this hump! I have been doing the same routine for about 3 months now of Oxycise and Express Walk DVD. I had added the Bootcamp in January for strength training. I have been thinking it was time to go to the next level, but I just hadn't done it. So this afternoon, I did Oxycise Level2 and the Fat Blasting Walk DVD. I feel good working harder.

My plan is to do these for a couple of days then add back the Oxycise Level 1 and Express Walk in addition to continuing the bootcamp and other strength exercises for a total of 90+ minutes a day. I am going to reset that "set point"!!

Carrie - Hooray for you, wisely evaluating things, and deciding what change was needed. You are doing well, and I'm sure the positive results are coming. Keep up your good work! I am tired just thinking of being out past 11 PM and ready for a baby to come at 6:30 PM ... don't neglect your rest! Hugs, Susie

Good for you for recognizing a pattern! Don't let the numbers discourage you; that's all they are, numbers. One way or the other, you are getting healthier and at some point, you will actually see a difference. Just keep going girl, you can do it!

I am impressed that you didn't give up, but figured that you needed to amp up your workouts. Sometimes our bodies need that push in the tush to keep on going and changing. You can do it!

Glad you made the decision to get yourself moving which is one of the hardest decisions to make and keep. Don't get hung up on the numbers and weather the scale or the measuring tape tells you are successful or not. Feeling the looseness of your clothes and feeling stronger are tell tell signs that you are doing something right. The numbers will come in time. I have never been one to measure myself I let my clothes tell me whats going on. I do get on the scale each and every morning for a guide line. I also know just how foods will react with my body and how it effects my weight. Pizza and salt are a big factor for water gain. In time you will know just how things effect your body! Keep up the good work were here to support you and love you too!!!! Deb
