I had lunch with my most active friend today. She has climbed Mt McKinley (a few times), rock climbs, jogs 3 times a week, snowboards, etc etc. She has always been like this.
I was telling her about my small efforts towards fitness, and she was completely on board, saying, "That's the way it's got to be. If you try to start too fast, you'll never be able to do it. The way you're doing it now will just keep building up and you won't have a problem with it"
Maybe this is something those thin, active people have always known and we couch potatoes just didn't get the memo. Up until just recently I didn't believe the 10 minute workout would work.
Look at me now! This morning I did one of Leslie's WATP DVD's. About three weeks ago I could only get to the half mile point. Today I finished the mile without the weights. Maybe soon I'll be able to do the mile with the weights. Before Spark People, I wouldn't have given myself credit for getting halfway through. Now, I log the minutes and feel proud that I did it.
