Muscles

Thursday, February 04, 2010

Wow so I don't know what has been going on around here, but I have been too busy to write! I am down to 176 (or I was on my weigh in day on Sunday) but I cheated and weighed myself today and was up to 177.5 so I really hope that's not true. Or that it's muscle. They laid off a bunch of people at work so I am now one of the only stackers. On tuesday I was stacking 50lbs boxes and yesterday was 40lbs boxes, today was back to the regular 30, but my arms, legs and butt are so sore! I never even realized I used all these muscles! But I'm glad I did. Also I have heard from some people that muscle weighs more than fat, from others that it weighs the same, and from others still that it doesn't matter. I wish I knew the truth so I would know if this mattered...

Depends of what you mean by weighs more. A pound is a pound. A pound of fat weights as much as a pound of muscle by definition. Muscle is denser, so for the same cubic inch muscle would weigh more. Seems you will be burning up calories and building up a little muscle with that amount of fairly heavy lifting you are doing. Sometimes you may notice more of a change in your waistline measurement than the scale, provided you are reasonable with your calorie intake. Hope that makes sense.
