Skinny Bitch!

Thursday, February 04, 2010

If you haven't read the book Skinny Botch do it! I learned so much about health, getting into a better mind set, and what to look for in my food good and bad.

I was a vegetarian for several years and let meat creep back into my life but after having read the book, balling my eyes out, and really seeing the ugly truth I won't be going back. I evaluated my weight gain over the past 6 years and have noticed the time I gained weight is when I was eating meat. I feel a huge contributing factor to the weight gain is all the hormones that are in meats and I never really looked at milk as something that would put weight on me.

We're told that milk does the body good, builds strong bones and gives us calcium and that women who "milk their diet" are proven to have a healthier body weight. But after reading this book I understood what milk really does. Just as breast milk makes your baby grow - cows milk is intended for calves to grow into cows so if we're drinking cows milk we'll be the size of a cow! Milk was never put into that perspective for me before.

I'm really shocked about all I learned - where we get our vitamins from, other resources that are available, the affirmations and self confidence, what the FDA and USDA really do. It was a clever book and opened my eyes again. I don't want to give away the whole book but I've gone vegetarian and working on becoming vegan. You can't be a true animal lover and eat them.

This book sounds interesting. I WILL check it out. I stopped eating meat about 10 years ago and do not regret it. I still eat fish because I live in an area where it is fresh and plentiful right off the boats.

Whether you "believe" in being vegetarian or not, it is an excellent, factual, informative book that is written in a very entertaining fashion. I highly recommend to everyone that they read it. I'm just glad my sister was inspired by it to take compassionate action.

Milk didn't get me to the weight I am now ... nor did eating red meat get me where I am ... life and other things within it got me to where I am and nothing more. Milk is healthy for many people it might not be for everyone but then again being a veggie isn't either - to each is to their own.

Skim milk isn't making me fat. Sorry, but I honestly believe we're omnivores, we were built to eat meat and plants, it's just in our biology. Just my 2 cents.

Good for you. I've been a vegan for 5.5 years. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Hi, like you I also went without eatign red meat for so long, incept for the occasional burger every now and then. Your right in what you said about meat casuing you to gain weight and now I've switched to turkey meat based products too. Sometimes eatign meat can be like eating candy, hopefully you get the analogy.

Whole milk, tryed the other versions and it doens't agree with my body, so still stick with cows milk.

Best wishes on being a vegan too.
