After 4+ months - my dad's home!

Thursday, February 04, 2010

My dad went to the emergency room on 9/27 with a severe pain in his abdomen. One emergency surgery and several roller coaster rides later and he has been released from rehab to come home!

He's on a strict diet, insulin for his diabetes, and lots of other rules and regulations but he slept at home last night. I bet he was over the moon! I wish I could have been there to welcome him home but I live too far away. I have plans to go and spend a long weekend with them soon. I'll be glad to see them and help out for a while.

This has been a very scary time for my family and I. I thank all of you for your prayers and ask that you keep us in mind as we learn to live with all the new rules and changes that have taken place and for my father to become accustom to asking for help when he needs it. He has always been very independent and that part will change way more than he's ready to acknowledge.

This is excellent news! :) (and a relief!) I just have to say, that if my Dad (old "Salt-lick Jim) can embrace a low-sodium diet, I bet your Dad will handle the changes he has to make as well. A new chapter!

Enjoy your vacation...there's a storm coming? Say it ain't so!

Get some rays for me! I'll think of you while I'm shoveling!!

After all these months, it is wonderful to hear that your dad is back at home and ready to take on the new chapter in this adventure called LIFE! I have a feeling he will be very good about learning to live within the parameters of whatever rules will keep him healthy and well. With all of the support and love your family provides, I am sure he is one happy man to be all in one piece and back on the road to independence -- with some speed limits! emoticon I hope his recovery takes some tension out of your life too, Linda! You have been there for him, and both your mom AND dad know it!

Now it is YOUR time! Time for a vacation in a sunny, tropical sanctuary! emoticon

I am soooo glad to hear that your father has recovered well. I know you were really worried there a few times. I am so happy for you and your family! *HUGS*
