To Thine Own Self Be True...

It strikes me that this website posses an emoticon-ness to it. It's also very addictive and can be very time consuming. I, myself, am a victim. You get involved in reading blogs, posting comments on Spark pages, posting on the message boards, keeping up with members on your team(s), sending & receiving Sparkmails. Whew...I'm tired just typing this. The point I'm trying to get across is that while these are all absolutely wonderful things, DO NOT allow them to get in the way of taking care of you! YOU should always be a priority. If YOU don't make YOU a priority, NO ONE else will! So make sure you take time to exercise, eat right and get a full night's sleep! Hence, why I say "To thine own self be true!"

I am not saying NOT to Spark. I WOULD NEVER SAY THAT!! I'm just saying, don't let yourself get so overwhelmed with all the catching up you have to do. Just take it a little at a time...Baby Steps...Just like on our weight loss journey.

    I have a rule that I don't get on Spark until my morning workout is done and my chores are done in the evening.

    I know I am addicted to Spark but I think it's a healthy addiction. When my online time interferes with my fitness time, then I will worry!

    I believe that Spark is another type of addiction to many people. We replace food with Spark. We replace loneliness with Spark. We replace boredom with Spark.
    It might sound good but along the way many people lose that healthy balance.
    We have to Spark but like you said, we cant let ourselves and our health needs get lost because of Spark.
    Balance is the key to everything. Any time you lose balance your health will suffer in some way.

    That' so true, I think I'm going to set a timer and make a schedule of when to spark or else the time flies and nothing gets done!! Exercise though is a priority no matter what!

    Absolutely true! You hit the nail on the head - this website is a tool to aid us in reaching our health and weight loss goals - when it starts to become a noose around our necks...we need to step back and regain some balance, for sure!

    My husband commented on the time I take to track and contact sparkfriends, etc, but he looks at it as a positive thing because it keeps me involved on a daily basis...he actually thinks it's wonderful (which I found surprising because he's not always been happy about extended time I spend on the computer). That was nice to hear. But you're right, it can get out of control. I think it's such a nice, comforting, safe place to be that it's tempting to log on very frequently. But it IS important to remember that we're all here for a reason...OURSELVES.

    Ya I say to myself, 'ok go on for 15 minutes' and next thing I look and it has been an hour!!! The only thing I tell myself is that the old me would have spent that time eating and feeling sorry for herself so I maybe replacing one addiction for another but at least this is a postitive addiction!!

    Thats a really good point. Sometimes I think we get wrapped up in other things and then, bam, the time for our workout is gone! I myself, am guilty of that :)
