P.S. The bleeding stopped and I am on track today!

Sunday, January 31, 2010

Just a P.S. to yesterday's blog - I checked with my Dad and my unorthodox solution worked and stopped the bleeding! Praise The Lord!

It is strange and almost amusing how I can handle obstacles in my own life but when it is something to do with my dad, my eating takes a left turn?! Interesting!

Yesterday I did discover something useful to me! I can eat green onions aka scallions!

I have never been able to eat an onion - I just can't get past the bite! Then later I learned I am allergic to lilies and onions are in the lily family. Hmmm.

But I took a chance and used 2 green onions in my shrimp stir-fry (tops and bulbs) and I didn't even taste them! This is good news because onions have tremendous health properties!

WooHoo and 2 thumbs up!

I think today I shall make a pot of soup!

2/1: The soup has been so good I did it again today! Great way to get in some extra veggies too!

YAY! I am so glad that your dad is OK!! That is GREAT news!!!

I love getting more veggies in using soup - my kids eat them better that way! I had no idea about the lily/onion connection! Hmm. I don't know what I would do...I use onions in EVERYTHING! emoticon

So glad your Dad is ok!!

As for onioins, see if you can start some chives outside ths spring. Mine are right near my door where I can use them all winter. They are milder in flavor then an onion, and great minced in tater salads, and used in all kinds of things where an onion is. Yep, they are in the Lily family too. emoticon

Glad your dad's bleeding stopped!!!! That's a very insightful connection you made between your eating and your dad.

Wow you're allergic to the flower, lily? Okay then here's a rose for you.

I like green onions too :) You are right, they don't taste much and they have great properties. Your shrimp stir fry sounds wonderful.

I hope your dad is okay and I am glad the bleeding stopped.

I love scallions and use them in many stir-fries as well as in a salad. They add such a wonderful taste without the oniony tast regular onions have.

Hugs,
Marty

Thanks for the update. It is a relief to me, so I know it has to be a major relief to you. Aren't you clever with your unorthodox methods?

Very interesting that dad's problems in particular seem to trigger eating problems. Might be worth thinking and journaling about. What is that all about?
