Just waiting for the money now........

Friday, January 29, 2010

Well I finished the taxes tonight. Actually I have to check on something for Kenyon's local form since he collected some unemployment this year. Once I get that I will be done.

I was quite surprised when I did the federal taxes last evening that we had taken such a hit this year. I consider our family quite lucky compared to many that have lost jobs and had their hours cut much more than what we have. Kenyon was fortunate enough at work to be one of the people that worked the most hours. Many people were let go and/or their hours cut. They are calling some of them back. I sure hope the economy turns around soon.

The good news is that after the frustration of doing the taxes - we do get money back emoticon Now I just have to figure out what to spend the money on - lol - the options are endless. Actually, I think it will go towards the siding we need to get on the house - HOW BORING - but needed. I do think I will be getting a new exercise ball and some sneakers though and of course Rebecah will need (um - want) some clothes and Jesse - hmmmm - a new skateboard???? I just want a little to have some fun with - the rest can go to house stuff as usual.

Happy Friday - I hope you all have a great weekend.

ps - have no fear - I'm sure I will come up with a way to spend the money emoticon

Congratulations on getting that out of the way so quickly! It is always such a huge weight off me when I do it. We usually spend the money on something crappy like credit card bills. This year, we hope to get a little back to help pay for hubby's new motorcycle. I guess that is an okay way to spend it. :)

Have fun deciding what to do with it!

Well you urged me to do my taxes and now they are done and e-filed and the local taxes are in the mail. Bob told me the money is mine to do what I want. I think I will just put it away until I decide what I want to do with it, and he told me I am to spend it on me and not my grand kids. He knows me.
I think I am going to buy some new Cooks Essentials pans, you know me I love to cook and mine are getting a little old.
Hope you enjoyed your day probably glad it is over and only 4 days left. LOL Hugs Colleen

Good for you for getting your taxes done early. I'm still waiting on a couple of 1099's... and then I'll settle down and do them this month. There was no way I was going to get them done in January with all the work I had on the road.

    Hey Stephanie

Well that is good news to be getting money back. I have to do our taxes and am half afraid to do them but I figure tomorrow will be a good day. We did put that french door in and can claim a tax credit for that. I will be glad when I get that done and out of the way. Have a great week. Hugs Colleen

Good for you! We're still waiting for our 1099's then it'll be a slam dunk to get it ready....sigh....thinking you'll have more places to spend it than the size of the check!! LOL

I like the idea of having a little fun with some of it and using the rest to fix up the house. Both responsible and fun, and that way all of you is happy with the way you spent it!

Because we work 3 - 5 part-time jobs we never know if we will be okay or if we will have to pay. Last year we got hammered. So we adjusted our deductions and are hoping that we break even this year. With no kids at home and the mortgage almost paid off, we have very few deductions these days!

House siding makes such a big difference! My grandparents just put new siding on and their 40 year old house looks totally different! Good for you getting on top of it!

We tend to throw refund money into savings - even for a short while - and let it compound while we figure out the details. Be sure to let the money work for you while you consider every option!!

Somehow I was not worried about you finding a way to spend the money. I can;t believe you have already finished your taxes. Now I feel like such a slacker.

If I had some extra money laying around,
I would get a good spring cleaning done to my house.
and a massage
or two.
As it is I'm having to tap into my retirement acct for day to day living (esp the darn health insurance- which is costing me ONE THIRD of my pension- something I never planned on when planning my retirement!) and I have to work part time as well.
Poor me.
Have a great weekend, Stephanie.
Thanks for letting me fantasize for just a few minutes.
