list of low glycemic index foods

Friday, January 29, 2010

I have been researching information about low glycemic foods and I can not find two sites that agree. i found one that said hotdogs were a high index food and another site put hotdogs on the good list. One site tells me that pasta is ok and the other it is a big no no.

Does anyone have a good site that gives me the correct information about what is a low glycemic food and which isn't? I am so confused emoticon

I like the Low G.I. Diet by Rick Gallop...there are books and a website. He lists foods as red light, yellow light, or green light--no counting! But I am still using the nutrition tracker on here to track calories, carbs, fat, and protein in addition to using his food list to work from. Here's the website:

The website doesn't have the whole list, though, only updates to it since the book was published. But the book is available at lots of libraries (though I ended up buying one of them, the one "Living the GI Diet", for myself after looking at my mom's copy).

I haven't honestly compared it to lots of other low-glycemic index diets...only because my mom has had huge success using this one.

I hope that helps!
