Didn't make it here yesterday, was busy all day. That's a lesson learned not to say I'll be back the next day. We just don't know how our days will develop.
Yesterday was my first time out since my surgery, and it was difficult, to say the least. I hadn't taken into account how many times I use a rest room with my prescription diuretic and diabetes nor how heavy the bathroom doors are. A few times I got lucky and was able to ask someone to help with the door, and I was thankful for those times. Loading/unloading the scooter was another difficulty, but I survived, and we had a nice day in spite of its challenges.
I had a good food day with yogurt for breakfast and a pretzel dog at Auntie Anne's Pretzels in the mall for lunch. I know - a pretzel dog sounds horrible, but all it is is a small hot dog wrapped in a thin layer of pretzel dough. We saw a movie and then went to Hoss's Steak & Sea House for dinner where I had barbecued chicken, baked potato, and the salad bar. I'm an imperfect dieter at best, so I had a small amount of butterscotch pudding for dessert. I justified it by saying I was getting my calcium. At least I didn't stop at Bruster's for ice cream, which unfortunately is at the end of my street!
Today I had a yogurt for breakfast. I felt like eggs, but just didn't have the energy after yesterday's activities. My polio causes me to take about a week to recover from even the slightest bit of anesthetic. I'm having a Caesar salad and chili, one for lunch and the other for dinner, I'm not sure of the order yet.
I was just named co-leader on the Polio Survivors Unite team, and I'd like to throw out an invitation to anybody reading this and knows somebody who had polio or cares about someone else who had polio to stop by the Polio Survivors group and check it out.
Maybe I'll be back tomorrow.
