The sickness has arrived and I am frustrated

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Well there is a virus going around my house. So far I haven't got it yet, but I am worried. The bf is very sick, with what I am hoping is not the H1N1 virus. Today I have been trying to convince the bf that when I get home we will go to the hospital because this is not just a plain cold. He has a fever, chills, body aches, a cough.. in his chest I might add, a runny nose and a sore throat. So I am worried and I don't want him to get sicker, but he is being stubborn. I know even if I left here right now, we wouldn't get to the hospital for another few hours because if would take me forever to convince him he needs to go. I am hoping that by the time I get home he is better and his fever has gone down. We don't have the money to go to the hospital as we have so many other hospital bills from other ER trips, but sometimes you just need to go. I really just need to see if he has swine flu. Why it is so frustrating when women are sick we plow through the day, taking care of everything and everyone else and still manage to be fairly pleasant. Yet when men are sick they turn grumpy and mean?! Please give me the strength to deal with this sick man and take deep breaths and don't take anything personally!

**UPDATE** Well guess I don't have to worry about dragging him to the hospital, as he took himself apparently. I just got a call from his dad saying that my bf called him to let him know he was going to the hospital. I guess he went to the Dr's office and they wouldn't take him, so they sent him over to the ER. While I am a bit ticked that he didn't call me, I know he didn't because I am at work and he didn't want me taking off to go get him and drive there. But I am leaving work early anyway and heading up there. Whether he likes it or not.

I'm so glad your BF went to the hospital. H1N1 is nothing to fool around with. It sounds like he has all the symptoms. I got it the middle of December and it turned into pneumonia. I'm still coughing from it. The coughing for so long caused the muscles in my sides to cramp up and I went to a chiropractor who worked wonders on all those overworked sore muscles.

Please post again and let us know how he's doing.

God bless,

Hey, so glad to hear he went to the ER, and hope he doesn't have to wait for hours to be seen; I used to work in an ER and never understood why people had to wait around for so long esp when staff seemed to not be all that busy; was difficult to console families and patients waiting anxious and/or in pain hearing staff laughing and visiting. Sorry..had a venting moment there..

where I am there is a lot of that kind of flu going around; it sometimes sounds as though it's h1n1 but is not; they can do a test to determine if it is; the best thing for any flu is rest rest rest..another thing men are not good at.

hope the news is good for your bf and hope he is seen quickly by someone in the ER!

Good Luck! I live with 4 men...so I know how you feel! I hope it's not the H1N1 virus, it seems to have died down a bit in the news.

Just a little comment about why we women plow through and men become babies... apparently it hits them harder than us, cuz usually men have more muscle than women and the virus attacks the muscle....I think that's a man's excuse but just thought I'd share!

Hope things get better soon!
