Update on Aaron

Friday, January 15, 2010

Aaron is working full time now. He has hired an attorney to help him with his case and has his first court date March 18th. It's in Tarrant County and we will drive down the day before as he has to be there at the court house by 9 a.m.

I did catch him smoking tonight and once again took his "smokes". He didn't smoke for 7 months while he was looking for a job and although many peeps will say to me: "well if this is his only vice and he's paying for the things, just let him smoke!" and I would say to that: He's an epileptic...this is our home and that's a rule...he can't smoke here while living under our roof! PERIOD! If he went 7 months without smoking or buying cigarettes then he doesn't have a "habit" he just likes to smoke and he's told me that. Plus, once again it is very dry outside and he throws his butts in the dry grass. His suicide attempt last year was directly related to his smoking and throwing his butts in the neighbor's bushes. So...NO SMOKING!

Other than the smoking issue and his legal issues, he's doing much better and "earning his keep" I look forward to his eventually moving out on his own and being a responsible member of society!

Blessings to all,

I'm really glad to hear that Aaron is doing so well! As to the "smokes" - I think you are right to put your foot down! I always tell my kids - "my house, my rules - when it's your house we'll follow your rules!" You're looking out for him, when he might not be.

kelly great job being a mom! you must stick to the principles and by enforcing the no smoking rule you are showing Aaron that rules have to be followed. it's wonderful to hear that he got a job and is doing well..and is on the right track to better health!!

i think its great that if you have a no smoking rule that it is enforced! cigarettes are still a drug. . .a legal drug. . .but a drug non the less. . .good for you and helping him on the right path!
