From never, ever in a million years to catch me if you can......

Thursday, January 14, 2010

A goal I had made when I started running AND discovered that I loved it, was to run a full marathon before my 50th birthday. I will be 50 in April 2011.

When I was training for the half marathon, I told my husband that I wouldn't even consider a full until I ran an entire half.

I ran an entire half marathon November 29, 2009. And, it was my first attempt.

My husband asked me shortly thereafter about the full marathon. We've discussed it several times.

I have gone from "No, I'm not ready" to "Yes, it's time" and back again.

This afternoon, my husband and I talked about it once more.

The decision has been made!

It's been signed, sealed, and delivered!

Disney FULL marathon -- January 9, 2011

If you happen to meet a Phyllis Murphy at the finish line give her a big hug for me. She is one of the athletic care team members. WTG! This is one of my goals and my 50th is only 3 years away.

Of all the people I know...YOU will do anything you set your mind to. I love reading your blogs because I can still hear you laughing when I suggested we train for a 5k less than a year ago...and look at you now!

CONGRATULATIONS on your decision.... i think this is SO INCREDIBLY COOL! I'll be 50 in 805 days (not that I'm counting!) that's 2012.. and I'm trying to plan something really cool to do or accomplish - something to celebrate my JUBILEE... can't imagine running a block much less a marathon.. so for now, I'll live vicariously through you! LOL

Wow Suezette!!! I remember being in your car with you, Charlene, & Lisa talking about "attempting" to run a 5k. You've come such a long way and I'm very proud that you have done so well. That will be an amazing accomplishment to say that you ran a full marathon before your 50th. You go girl!

AWESOME!!! If you can run a mile, you can run a marathon. The most important thing is being mentally ready. It took me a LONG time to get mentally ready - once you are there, the training is a joy! Way to go!

(I got to your blog via our mutual friend LIGHTNINGRUNNER). Congratulations. You have made the decision to do it, and that is one of the biggest hurdles. - Running a marathon before your 50th is a great decision. Good luck with the training and know there are lots of help and support here _ sometimes too much, but that is part of the journey to apply the information and make your experience successful. Let me know if I can help.

Amazing, a marathon! I appreciate how triumphant you will feel when you accomplish that goal. It will be truly wondrous, almost age-defying. When I read blogs by people like you, it makes me wonder if I could run a race of any length. Who knows until I try!
