BOSU 3D System

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

I am an exercise infomercial addict, but I do not buy things impulsively. If I see something that looks interesting I'll do a lot of online research and compare prices and read user reviews, etc.

I came across the BOSU 3D Body Sculpting System the other day on HSN (although different versions of it are sold elsewhere) and it looks like a lot of fun but a good workout at the same time.

The system comes with an official BOSU, a stability platform w/bar that you can hold onto so you can master your balance and do some good cardio without falling, 2 resistance bands, and 9 workouts. The video on HSN shows people using it and it looks a lot like step aerobics, but with a little bounce. You don't have to use the platform either - you can just use the BOSU alone.

I am posting this because I am thinking of purchasing but I wanted some feedback from others who use the BOSU to workout regularly and what your experiences are with it, recommendations, etc. The BOSU by itself normally sells for about $100 alone, so this seems like a good price for all the things you get in the package. What do you all think?

My husband and I got each other a BOSU for xmas and love it. Great for the core. My kids love to play/exercise on it too.

I'm afraid I can't offer any firsthand opinion on this, except to say that our gym has several of these BOSU sitting around gathering dust. They seem to have abandoned the concept. I took a class with them once and really didn't get much out of it. But, in fairness, I detest anything that resembles step class. I love taebo/kickboxing and yoga. Good luck making a decision! (Oh, and "Go Sox!" - I see their logo on our spark page)
