More Snow! Prayers for Haiti!

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

It is snowing again! I thought we had seen the last of it but as usual the weather forecast was wrong. Michael went to another town early this morning for meetings. I hope he is able to get back tonight. Plus he has more meetings out of London tomorrow before he flies home tomorrow night. I dont even know if he will be able to get home the way things are right now.
Putting things in perspective though is the news of a massive earthquake in Haiti! Looks like devastating damage. Dont know yet about loss of life but it looks considerable. I hope that international help gets there very quickly.

Later note!

I heard on the news that they think thousands of people may have died. Israel was one of the first to send a team to help. Always a leader in all humanitarian aid. There expertise is unparalleled in disaster areas. England is also sending help. I am sure that all countries will come to the aid of these poor people. I dont know if there has been the after shock yet.

Time for people of all faiths to come together and pray.

It's so awful when things like that happen.. It really forces me to put my life into perspective.

So many good comments have already been posted here. Yes, Haiti puts it all in perspective. So sad. My thoughts are with them.

Our school morning message of the day included asking that we consider donations to help our neighbors in Haiti - and many of my students have family there, or in the Dominican Republic. So sad - and it will take days to figure out just how bad it is.

The Caribbean basin and part of the Atlantic region was on a tsunami watch yesterday afternoon - I ended up explaining to my students today how an earthquake can create a tsunami, why this one didn't, and why the location wasn't serious for us.

What you people are saying is so true. There are so many suffering from this bitter cold without proper heat or clothing. We have so much to be thankful for. Let us dwell on this instead of being negative. God Bless the people in Haiti. That is such a poor country and to lose what little they have must be devastating for them.

There is always something to put our own woes into perspective isn't there. I am here complaining about the cold when farmers in the sourthern US are fighting to maintain their livelihood because of it. I am only uncomfortable. I try to remember how much I really have to be grateful for and things like the earthquake in Haiti remind me! I do hope there is help quickly!
