P90X

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

So a few weeks ago, my husband borrowed the P90X dvd's from a friend because he wanted to get into better shape (not that he's AT ALL in bad shape) and these videos KICKED HIS BUTT. By the 3rd day of he video's, he was so sore he couldn't raise his arms above shoulder level, nor could he bend them past 90 degrees. Though I felt bad for him, I did take advantage of the situtation. Its not often I get to tickle him nonstop without reprecusions. Besides, he did milk it for a week, saying that he couldn't scrub dishes because it hurt too much. =P

So my husband took a week off from P90X after just 3 days of doing it and we decided that it is a program that you should build up to, rather than jumpin in head first. These workouts are no joke. Its called P90 because most of the workouts are 90 minutes or more! I don't know what I was thinking, but my husband has convinced me to do the program with him. We are doing regular workouts this week to prepare for P90X and we'll be starting the program on Monday.

Today, we took the fit test which is supposed to determine if you are fit enough to do the program. We both passed with flying colors. I couldn't do a pullup though, which was pretty sad. However, I did 20 regular pushups and beat my husband at the wall sit. I have to admit that, though this will probably be the hardest I have worked since high school, I'm excited to see the results.

Well, I'm also trying to get more sleep these days so I better go to bed. I'll write more after our next workout!

I really enjoy the P90X program - just wish it was more realistic... only 60 min workouts 5 times per week... 6 days at 90 is so hard when you have so much to do... I hated the yoga - regularly screaming at the tv "I don't want to do anymore freaking vinyasa's or planks!"... And I would be screaming at Tony and pam the blam...they make it look so effortless and barely sweat! I never got past the 3rd week after trying two times... just couldn't keep it up for 3 months... I keep saying - one day I'll do it - just to say I conquered it! But not in the right mindset yet..... Good luck to you!!!

I also have P90X, and X really stands for EXTREME!! The workouts are crazy, but fun! You will definitely be sore for the first week or so, but you will get a really great workout. I hope you and your husband enjoy...I incorporate P90X into my weekly routine of several different exercises, such as walking, biking, and or Tae bo. I don't like just doing 1 routine, but definitely stick to it!
