Evaluating How Today Went

I was typing up a few notes in my nutrition tracker about how hanging out with some friends and having a potluck dinner went. I went over my recommended calories and fat for today, but not by much (if my estimates are accurate, and it's hard to know exactly, but I think I estimated reasonably well).

I thought I'd share my "pluses" and "minuses" of the day here, even though they are still in note form.

+ 1 hour and 20 minute walk with friends
+ walk was in park, nice outside time
+ small portion frozen yogurt, my only toppings were natural unsweetened fruit
+ prepared healthy and balanced food to bring to potluck (whole wheat pasta, light on the dressing, with veggies)
+ drank only tea and water

- too many snacks and nibbles while waiting for dinner
- too many dessert nibbles at end of the night
- oddly scheduled breakfast/lunch led to overeating at dinner

Note: hard to know how host's main dish was prepared. It definitely had some fatty ingredients, but since I had filled up on healthy veggies and pasta, I ate very little of those.

All in all, a good day spent with good friends. Bringing a healthy entree was definitely a good move for me.

    WOW! Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback!

I swear, I do not have perfect self control at all. I stick with my goals and don't beat myself up about slip-ups, but I definitely snack and nibble on junk food and eat more than I planned to at times.

Didn't have a great day today, in fact -- wound up at a movie during dinner time and that didn't go so well. Luckily I did have some figs and almonds in my purse so I ate a few healthy things on top of popcorn and some candy. And I also had my water bottle with me.

    I am so amazed at your self control. I feel like you have so many opportunities to lose track with parties and potlucks, but you remain faithful to your goals. Way to go!

    It's good that you're able to see the positives of your day. I tend to focus only on the negatives so that's something I'm working on.
