Not exactly a record-breaking time - but it would have gotten me across the Apple Blossom finish line before the parade ran over me. Plus now I have a new goal - get my time under eighty minutes. (If you think of it as improving my time by 1%, that doesn't sound that bad, does it?)
I jogged the first 5K and most of the second, with a couple of short breaks at a brisk walk. If I can make those a little shorter, that'll get me to my time goal.
One tricky thing, though, is that when I get back to DC, I won't be able to do these on the treadmill. (There's a thirty-minute limit on the cardio equipment.) I've never been a great judge of my pace when I'm on a track or a road - I tend to run faster than my moderate jogging pace, and run out of energy faster. Still, I think that with practice, I'll be getting some better times before April.
