This introductory massage will help you gain confidence and get you started in learning the ancient healing art of massage.
The first massage sequence you will learn can be used at home, at work , or anywhere you and a friend can find a quiet spot to sit. It's simple, takes only 10 minutes, and does not involve removing any clothing or using any oils. This massage will also make you more aware and confident with your hands. It introduces simple massage techniques to get your fingers used to massage work.
Practicing massage strokes and improving your skills are usually best done with close friends or family, as they won't mind being guinea pigs and you will feel more at ease. The most important factor in a successful massage is the relationship between the giver and the receiver. Discuss the treatment together so you both know what to expect and remember to ask how they feel during the massage.
Making the most of massage oils. Many masseurs use massage oils during a session. This helps to lubricate the skin so that your hands glide across more gently, and it also combines the healing actions of oils with your massage strokes to relieve tense muscles, improve the condition of the skin and boost circulation.
Facial blend- Mix 1/4 tsp of face cream or cleanser with 1/4 tsp of sweet almond oil, 5 drops of rose and 2 drops each of lavender and chamomile. Use a small amount and massage well into the skin.
Deep-cleansing blend- Mix a teaspoon of honey, a teaspoon of warm water and 2 drops of lemon oil. Massage into the skin, and wipe off the excess.
