I just joined a new group for half marathon support and one goal was to create this blog entry on why I'm challenging myself with a half marathon this year.

I did walk/jog a half marathon last year and the sense of accomplishment was pretty amazing. But even given that, I wasn't so sure I'd do another one. It's a pretty big time commitment.

But there is one in Green Bay in May. My brother-in-law decided to do the full marathon, my sister is going to do the half marathon. They inspired my daughter to join in and I sort of got caught up in the excitement. The race is actually on my 44th birthday. I gave a little thought to what my birthday would be like if I did or didn't do it. I will go either way to support my family and how would I feel on the sidelines. I really loved that feeling of accomplishment and am sure I would absolutely miss it if I was just a spectator.

So new goal for 2010, a PR in a half marathon!

Hi! I just came across your blog on the half marathon in 2010 team. I plan on doing the cellcom half also for my first half marathon. That's awesome that you will be doing it on your 44th birthday, what a great way to start another year!

Hey buddy...I plan on running that same race in Green Bay in May...I want to run the full Marathon though...

It's also 2 days before my 47th birthday...so that's pretty cool! I was just checking the route a couple of nights ago...and I plan on registering soon...

If you haven't checked out the Jeff Galloway team training for any length of race it's a really supportive running team...the Galloway method is run/walking which I will probably use in the Marathon...(my times really are better when I run/walk at distances greater than 6 mi)

    Happy training!
