Please Say A Little Prayer

Wednesday, January 06, 2010

I very seldom ask people for help, but I'm asking today. My youngest daughter, ThinkthinB, is going to court today to settle custody for her 5 year old son. She and his dad were never married and had split up before Kody was even born. The dad has shown minimal interest in him all these years even though Becky has encouraged them spending time together. The last year he has spent more time with him but he is super super strict and occasionally very mean. He married a few months back and his new wife spanked Kody so hard that she left bruises on his little body. Kody cries every single time she tells him that he's going to his dads. Now all of a sudden he is taking Becky to court for partial custody. The things he is demanding are absolutely crazy, but I suppose given the right judge, he could possibly be granted some of them. If he gets his way, he will have him more than Becky does! She's a wonderful mother and they have such a close bond since it's just been the two of them for 5 years. It will crush both of them if his dad gets his way in all this. I totally understand that Kody needs time with his dad but only if it is loving time. Please, please say a little prayer for them. They go to court at 1:30 this afternoon. Pray that they get a caring and compassionate judge that will divide the time fairly between the two of them.

I'm late with this too, but I'll be keeping the whole family in my thoughts and prayers. Hope Becky documented the bruises, the ultra strictness, etc. Jenise had a friend who had full custody of her son until the father (they were never married) decided her didn't want to pay child support and took her to court for full custody. She documented every time he was late picking him up, what the son said he gave him to eat (think sugar, sugar, sugar) and anything that she thought would help her. Took several court visits, but they now share custody (she compromised) and she still documents everything. Hope the judge realizes that the father and stepmother are abusive.

Oh, heart goes out to your DD, Kody and you this afternoon ! You
will all be in my thoughts and well as the judge who has to make a
very important decision, concerning that precious little child ! May he or she
make the correct one, for the well being of little Kody ! I certainly agree that
those bruises should be brought to the attention of the courts...for it should
have a large bearing on your DD acquiring sole custody, even ! Let us know how
everything goes today !! emoticon emoticon

I am praying as well and by the way if the step-mom left bruises on Kody that is legally child abuse and should be brought to the proper authorities attention. It is not in Kody's best interest to be with someone that physically abuses him and it is not her right to lay a hand on Kody, she is not his parent.

Jannie, my heart goes out to you and your whole family and my prayers but more than little prayers...BIG prayers. PLEASE let me know how it goes. It amazes me the situations that courts sometimes allow children to be placed in.

My prayers are with you all. Did anybody document these bruises and bring it to the authorities attention? Please don't hesitate to do this. Your grandson deserves to be protected.

Oh my gosh Granny - of course ALL my prayers will be with your family especially Kody - and for the judge to make the right decision to keep that child in a loving home with his mom - not an abusive one.
