Day 96, Raw/Clean eating journey...another b~day luncheon today...oh my!

emoticon emoticon Happy Tuesday dear Sparklers! I'm headed out for another birthday luncheon today. Oh my! I did fairly well yesterday. We went to a restaurant in the Promenade where I display my jewelry on Saturday mornings at the farmer's market.

We had eaten at this restaurant a long while back with the Friday Night group and I remember thinking it was GHASTLY expensive. Well, things haven't changed much. Honestly looking at the menu I thought it was the 'dinner' menu...prices of $17.50 even $30.00 something...for LUNCH??? Luckily one of our ladies had a coupon for 50% off...so I'm sure they just raise the prices to bring the meals down to a more reasonable cost (still too expensive in my estimation)!

I hadn't picked the restaurant so I was happy about that! The place was gorgeous and had a fairly good crowd in there...yowsers...I hope they all had coupons too! But the food certainly did not substantiate those kind of prices! Or maybe I'm just getting spoiled by cooking our own REAL food at home more. Honestly when I eat out now...I'm almost ALWAYS disappointed by the quality of the food! Not to seem ungrateful for the sweet fact that they treated me to my meal...but seriously $17.50 for a salad...NO salad can be THAT good...right?

Today is another lunch out day...but we will pick something much more moderate and I'm sure it will probably be just fine. But the more I cook at home using REAL food...the more I think that's the only way to go!

I start my third art market this Thursday at Coconut Point...I'm hoping it is better than last Sunday. It was SO COLD that very few people were even out and about. It was my all time WORST day ever...and I was working on ME BIRTHDAY to top it!

Oh well...I did survive..and I'm happy to say I lost another pound this week so there must be SOMETHING to the fact that you burn more calories in cold weather. It's supposed to stay frigid all week...so I'm hoping I'm on a weight loss roll! emoticon

I'm up for my running challenge with Karvy this month...I'm so happy that she has pressed me to get started on my running adventure. I'll have to do them on my treadmill building up slowly...no way...am I running in public yet...but I'm stoked to get rolling!

We have friends coming in to stay with us towards the end of January so I've got to get busy getting Josh's room in order for guests. It will be sad clearing his things and making it more neutral but I have always wanted to make it an exercise room anyhow so looks like this might be the push I need.

I'm also going to start tracking my nutrition daily to keep me on track..and I'll earn more points that way too...yay!

I am committing to at LEAST 30 minutes of exercise daily..and the runs will help me burn more calories yay!

I want to lose at least 2 pounds per month...I've lost 30 pounds now and have another 30-35 pounds to go...yay!

I need to remember to take my vitamins daily and to drink at least 8 glasses of water!

I'm going to join the Couch to 5k team to learn more about running safely! Yay....

All in all..pretty do~able goals I think! My priority right now is to keep up with my jewelry inventory for my markets..three markets is a bit nuts...but then I've always stretched further than the average bear..so this is really kinda normal nuts for me! emoticon I made up some more of Carolyn's baked nuts last night...absolutely awesome! Yummmm O!

Take care and stay warm my Sparkling friends! It's going to stay cold here for at least another 10 days...wowsa...lots of calorie burning jumping around trying to keep warm! emoticon I'll take burning calories any way I can! emoticon

    So glad to hear you are doing so well and starting to exercise. I LOVE those nuts as well. The first time I burn them :( had bought everything at whole foods :( so the next time I watched them closely and they were great. Wonder about the calories though. They don't have much added to them. Did you use the maple syrup or honey? Hope you have an extra special day. Good luck redoing your son's room. That will be so much fun.

    I agree with you on restaurant food; it usually isn't worth the cost and is rarely as good as what can be made at home, even by me! LOL Sounds like you've got some good goals to keep you focused. Mmmmm.....I'll have to try to find that nut recipe; nuts are good! We not only are having a cold spell, but tonight I heard snow is in the forecast. It has been hovering near and below zero for almost a week now (or at least it seems that long), and the snow we got right after Christmas is still here plus some other snowfalls that we've had, though they were all small. On a happier note, Spring is only 75 days away!

    I have been thinking about joining the c25k team but haven't done it yet. I have so much on my plate as it is that I'm just not sure if I can fit it in. As it is I can't even find the time to blog nowadays. I'm doing pretty well with what I have going but perhaps I'll join once I feel like I've got a rhythm going with our company, reading rss feeds of the news and so on. It sounds like your girlfriends treated you to a nice lunch. Although, I would have to agree with you that those prices were high for lunch. Even by Colorado standards that is quite high. You should have asked if there was gold shavings in your food! At least that would explain to a certain degree the high price! Sorry you had to work on your birthday but it sounds like you gave yourself a nice birthday present by losing another pound!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Bye, bye one more pound!!     $17.50 for a salad is steep alright but at half price that sounds acceptable. Good thing for that coupon! For the most part, I also prefer eating at home and am a bit critical at restaurants especially if the service is slow. I LOVE however eating dinner at Ruths Chris Steakhouse. It is spendy but worth the occassional extravagence and the food and service is always steller. DH and I share an entree so that keeps the cost within reason. I thought your comment about being cold and burning calories was funny. You actually do burn more calories when you are cold as your body tries to warm up and keep equilibrium. When you shiver, you even burn more; but that is a tough way to go. I would rather power walk LOL. Have a great day and enjoy your lunch.

    That is very pricy for lunch.That is pricey for dinner too.We have too many good restaurants around to spend that much.Most of the more expensive places have been a let down to me. I don't mind paying for a good meal but I want it to be good.
Glad you are enjoying your birthday.
It is good that you are getting Josh's room ready for guest.It is the next step for you. It won't be easy but it is time.

Love keeping up with your days and adventures. The baked nuts recipe sounds interesting. What's to it?

I'm into the New Year and goals too. I'm getting fairly obnoxious about the 'stop procrastinating' goal. Every time I get something done, I have to brag to Harold!! So far he's OK with it, but there will come a day I will have to start bragging to someone else!!

    Good for you--becoming a runner. I have to agree that the more you cook at home the more picky you are when eating out and nothing seems to compare. Congrats on the weight loss. And enjoy your birthday lunch. SO nice to be surrounded by wonderful friends. emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Everyone should celebrate their birth week. We don't celebrate enough. We need to celebrate each pound, each milestone, each goal, each babystep .... so we remember how far we have come, how much we have accomplished. Thanks for the reminder and happy birthday.
