Going completely nuts

Monday, January 04, 2010

Ugh, quitting smoking is making me nuts. Sure, according to science the addictive properties are out of my system by now but honestly I know it's still a very, very long haul back to some kind of normal. Put a huge amount of extra outside stress on the top of going crazy from quitting and it's just insane. Exercise helps though currently I'm suffering from some really significant hip pain which is making everything harder... sleeping, working out, walking. URGH! It wasn't that long ago that I was in great shape and feeling ache free... but then I stopped weight lifting and it all went to hell. OK, enough of me bitching. I'm getting sick of it too!

I quit smoking about 18 months ago. Sucks how sometimes it really just sneaks up on you!!! A little trick that got me through those crave moments was to add up how much I've *not* spent on smokes since I'd quit. If I was feeling rich, I'd go get something I needed (but needed a reason to justify the cost) off of Amazong (new sports bra, Smartwool socks). By the time I was done browsing, even if I didn't order anything, craving was gone. Good luck!!! It's worth it to stay quit!!!! and if you do cheat, remember one smoke does not mean give up and go buy a carton!!! Thats just the addiction trying to trip you up!
