I can't believe that it is already 2010! What a year 2009 panned out to be. I had some very high highs and the lowest of lows this year. The good and the bad are always what seem to stand out in our minds when we try to sum up a period of time.
I want to start out with some of the highs!! Here they are in no particular order:
I completed my first half marathon
I trained for and completed my first full marathon in honor of my father's bout with a brain tumor with chronic knee problems to boot!
I sold a house, two motorcycles, had two estate sales and didn't lose my sanity (at least not permanently!)
I spoke at the first ever Sparkpeople Convention
I ran my second half marathon and decreased my time by 9 minutes!
I was included in "The Spark" that was released on 12/29/09
I continued to maintain my weight
I accomplished the goal of being in the best shape of my life!
Completed my first triathlon
Deciding to pursue my passion of health and fitness by ordering the study materials to take the test to become a personal trainer
Hosting monthly outings for the San Diego Sparkteam
Successfully included strength training in my workouts
Made improvements in my nutrition by including more fruits and veggies
My dad passing away on 6/19/09. RIP pop!
Having to handle all of the things that come with the passing of a parent.
Selling a house and two motorcycles and personal possessions of my father.
The passing of my father took a toll on my relationship with my honey (things are improving but it is tough)
Faced the holidays without my dad - handled it well but it was tough! He wasn't only my pop he was my best friend and biggest supporter!
I am sure that there are more highs and lows but those are the ones that come to mind immediately. I am excited about the New Year and all it has to offer. God helped me get through this tough period in my life by giving me all these other great experiences through SP! I couldn't have made it through without some fantastic SP friends. They stepped up and helped me when my own mother did not. I am forever grateful for this site and all it has given to me, especially during the toughest year of my life. Let's share this journey together in the year ahead!
