Expected a gain at weigh in

Saturday, January 02, 2010

NYE we had lots of appetizers and snacks, last night chinese-- what was I thinking? So I was up 1.2 pounds which you know is all fluid--my legs are so swollen, I will be taking a big water pill tonight again..I need to leep the fluid off my body, it makes it harder to walk and breathe with the fluid on.

NO MORE GAINS THIS YEAR!!

I know exactly what you mean about the water retention and how hard it is on the body. I hope that you are able to get it off my friend. Love, Dawn emoticon

    Tracy,
It happens during the holidays. We all miss the mark so to speak. Don't get discouraged...today is another day to get it right. It's a new year to also get it right. I used to swell something terrible. It was so painful to be on my feet all day at work. The Atkins diet helped w/ that. It's a diuretic diet and the first few weeks I was losing that water weight. If you have a chance, you might want to read his book as something new to consider in 2010. Can't hurt. It's his New Diet Revolution. My legs no longer hurt unless I go back to eating sugar.

Tracy: Good Luck. I know it is difficult when you have a gain but think it as something positive. I know it is hard to do that but honestly, here is my theory. Sometimes we need a reminder of why we are doing what we are doing. For me, I know chinese food is a MAJOR NO NO NO. It sends my sugar through the roof for 2-3 testings. So now I have learned that Chinese food is not a food at this time I can trust. The same thing goes for Snacks and appetizers. I have learned that if I put them on a plate (dessert plate), I can visualize what is a good portion for me. It doesn't matter if it is all good stuff like vegetables and fruits. If it fits on the plate in one layer, I am OK. For you the scale registered a gain but from the experience you have learned so much more. So GO forward and do well. We all have our set backs. You have the tools to deal with it. emoticon
